Yoga has played a big part in my life for 15 years now! I got into yoga whilst going through postnatal depression and I never looked back. It helped me to find my way back into my body, as I’ve spent most of my life disembodied after childhood trauma.

Now, it keeps me sane as a busy mum of 3; it’s a way to express myself and a way to deal with life’s stressors, and it keeps me physically fit too!

Yoga is also one of my embodiment practices, and that is the main takeaway from my classes; you will walk away feeling less stressed, a little stronger, and more embodied.

Fatima Yoga Teacher @ Soul Space Chester
Fatima

Hi! My name is Fatima, and I am originally from Spain. I discovered yoga and breathwork six years ago while experiencing the toll of a high-pressure corporate lifestyle. After just a few months of practising at a local gym, I noticed significant benefits, not only at a physiological and mental level but also in my relationships and overall well-being. This transformative experience inspired me to become a certified Yoga Instructor and Breathwork Coach, with the goal of helping others unlock the incredible potential within themselves through these mindful practices.

In my classes, I strive to offer students a true experience of yoga, even if only for a short time, focusing on more than just the physical aspect. My approach is grounded in physiology, guiding you on both a mental and physical journey. Through Hatha Flow sequences, we will work the entire body, with special attention to the breath. I incorporate a variety of breathing techniques that you can integrate into your everyday life to enhance well-being and mindfulness.

Jodie Yoga Teacher @ Soul Space Chester
Jodie

Hey, I’m Jodie ☺️ Falling in love with yoga was easy for me; from the moment I first practised, I was hooked. Unable to touch my toes but in love with what I had just discovered, I jumped into multiple classes a day — the journey was life-changing.

It was yoga that would take me to India, where I completed my teacher training, and following that I became a full-time yoga teacher. I teach various styles of yoga including Hatha, Ashtanga, meditation, pranayama and Yin, but have a particular love for Vinyasa.

In my classes you’ll find a supportive space to explore your mind and body, deepen your practice and have fun! I lead students through fairly dynamic sequences which blend synchronous movement with the breath to build awareness, strength and flexibility. I encourage intuitive movement and exploration, combining traditional yoga asanas with fun, creative sequences and funky transitions.

My classes are open to all levels; no matter your ability, you will find options in class to suit you. You will always have the choice to stay with a pose or explore a bit deeper, finding freedom in your own practice. I hope to see you on the mat soon!

Leena Yoga Teacher @ Soul Space Chester
Leena

Who am I? I am this moment, this time, this space, continually transforming and evolving. My yoga journey began in childhood, practising with my grandfather and my wider community, embracing yoga's holistic essence beyond asanas, into meditation, pranayama and self-discovery.

I have trained with world-renowned teachers, integrating heart-centred teaching that honours each student's unique path. For me, yoga and meditation are inseparable practices, reflected deeply in my teaching style.

Breathwork and movement combined with art-making and outdoor therapy, planting and growing, creating art in nature with nature are all part of my offerings. I honour the seasons, the moon cycle and various traditions passed down to me from my elders and from nature-honouring cultures from across our beautiful planet.

I crave opportunities to encourage a connection between the body and the natural world. As a nature lover, I have incorporated these elements into my own life for as long as I can remember. Working as an art psychotherapist since 2015, within a variety of educational settings and also within specialist inpatient mental health services, has allowed me to encourage these connections in other people.

I have direct experience of working alongside other creative practitioners to create a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment for the most vulnerable people within our community, providing a space to heal and nurture.

Indian tribal dance and connecting to the divine feminine have been an integral part of my life. Dancing with my family and members of my community during festivals and other celebrations is part of my cultural practice, even in our homes and gardens during rituals and ceremonies.

Understanding and living this experience, I have gained even more insight into how our bodies need to move and flow with the rhythm of the self, individually and as a collective. I weave creativity and soulfulness into my classes, offering a truly holistic approach to well-being.

I LOVE my work.

Matt Yoga Teacher @ Soul Space Chester
Matt

I've been practising yoga since 2001, due to a spinal injury that occurred at work whilst living in the US. I started with basic Hatha, and then the bug caught me and I found hot Vinyasa, Baptiste style and Bikram. I then soon became aware of the profound effects on my physical and mental health.

Due to a very busy corporate job, I lost touch with my daily practices and noticed the negative effects on my physical and mental health. I then began the journey to find my yoga practice again, at which point I found Ashtanga — which just clicked and made so much sense to me at that time — and then delved even deeper than ever before.

During this time my teacher was quite persistent in asking me to cover her classes whilst she was away, which I resisted. On my return to the UK in 2011, I attended an Ashtanga class in Chester where the teacher could no longer teach the class, and I was asked if I knew what I was doing and could I lead the class. I was once again resistant, as I wasn't officially qualified. But after the first session I was asked to return — they were happy.

Before I knew it, I had multiple teachers attending my classes, and realised I had something to offer. I realised teaching was an extension of my practice, another way to practise. I began to study in person with teachers such as Manju Jois, son of Pattabhi Jois, father of Ashtanga; David Swenson, Kino McGregor and a multitude of others, focusing mainly on alignment and adjustments based on the Ashtanga sequence.

I realised that the “strict” approach doesn't work for the regular yogi, and that the less-is-more approach suits the long-term practice a lot more, minimising injuries and time away from the mat.

Besides Ashtanga, I also teach Vinyasa Flow, Hatha Flow and Yin. I'm a big believer that I should meet the student where they are, and have no expectation from the student but to show up and be themselves.

I also have a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, which has taught me a lot about the individual.

Yoga to me is connection. Connection to others, to the self, to all nature. Finding presence every day brings serenity into my life. Whether it's going for a walk, noticing my breath, or having a tea after my little one has gone to bed. Presence gives time and space to connect, to being instead of doing.

Yoga replaces the chaos of life with harmony. Yin yoga has deeply aided my physical, emotional and spiritual self — healing from a diagnosed chronic illness, releasing past traumas and finding presence in this fast-paced world.

I teach a soulful Yin, weaving in somatics, poetry, sound, stories and acupressure work to reveal your path to self-healing. From my heart to yours. Yin allows you to move into being rather than doing, to shift qi blockages, releasing emotions without having to address them; it truly allows you to let go and be in your inner world, away from the chaos of our external world.

I offer nourishing practices to help release what is no longer serving you, giving you space to be present and to let go of all expectations. To simply be.

In addition to my yoga offerings, I provide a range of massage and holistic therapies, including prenatal massage, Indian head massage, deep tissue massage, ear candling and sports massage, designed to support your physical and emotional well-being. Each therapy is tailored to meet your unique needs, ensuring a holistic approach to health and relaxation.

I cannot wait to connect with you.
Namaste 🙏

Zoe Yoga Teacher @ Soul Space Chester
Zoe

Hi everyone! I'm Zoë. I was first introduced to yoga at a young age by my mum, which sparked my early interest in the practice. However, it wasn't until the summer of 2021, after a period of illness and stress, that I rediscovered yoga. Seeking better health and deeper self-connection, I started attending classes regularly and fell in love with it.

The mental and physical benefits I experienced inspired me to deepen my practice. I studied under various teachers, each contributing to my growth. In October 2023, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, along with additional training in Chair Yoga to support people with varying abilities.

Since then, I've had the privilege of sharing my knowledge to help others reconnect with themselves and find balance. My goal is to create an inclusive, supportive environment where anyone can explore, learn and prioritise self-care on and off the mat.

In my classes, I focus on connecting mind, body and breath. I encourage you to move with intention, listen to your body and explore what works for you. My goal is to help you feel energised, grounded and relaxed by the end of your practice.
